Quarter Two Week of November 2nd

Hello Parents! Here is an overview of our week.

The third grade will be adding in a code and infraction system to help track behavior. Look for a explanation page in your students agenda this week.

Language Arts

Composition/Grammar: We will be working on adjectives this week.

Spalding: We will be adding to our rule pages in our notebooks. If your student could use support in Spalding, please send them in Tuesday mornings for tutoring. Tutoring will be held in my classroom from 7:10-7:45.

Literature: The students will be assigned chapters to read at home. If you can spare the time read aloud to your child and have them read to you. In class we are working on vocabulary and comprehension. We will be testing on the second half of "Little House on the Prairie" on Thursday or Friday.

Singapore: On Tuesday we will have the Math Benchmark testing. Starting Wednesday we will begin our study of multiplication. The students are very eager to begin. We will start a fluency program focusing on multiplication this week also called "Rocket Math".

Science: This week we will begin our study of the human body. We will begin with muscles and wonder together why we have a body? What is it used for?

Poetry: We will be reading "Horatius at the Bridge". This famous poem about a Roman hero will help our scholars get a sense of Ancient Rome. This poem will not be memorized in its entirety rather, small selections will be chosen.

As always please email me with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Miss Elfelt
