Quarter One Week Eight Update

Hello Parents! Here is an overview of our week.

Language Arts

Composition/Grammar: We will be working on verbs this week. 

Spalding: We will be adding to our rule pages in our notebooks. There will still be spelling words to write for homework. If your student forgets to mark the words, see if they can explain what the markings mean. If your student could use support in Spalding, please send them in Tuesday mornings for tutoring. Tutoring will be held in my classroom from 7:10-7:45. 

Literature: The students will be assigned chapters to read at home. If you can spare the time read aloud to your child and have them read to you. In class we are working on vocabulary and comprehension. We will be testing on the first half of the book, vocabulary and comprehension, next week.


Singapore: We have started Bar Models! If your student is struggling with the homework, please send them in to tutoring on Wednesday mornings from 7:10-7:45. Tutoring will be held in my classroom.

Science: We will continue our study of astronomy. We will be studying our Solar System this week. See if your student can tell you facts about each planet as the week progresses. 

Poetry: This week we will continue There Once Was a Puffin found on page 26 of your Harp and Laurel Wreath. The poem will be assessed starting Wednesday when all scholars will individually recite the poem in front of the class.
