Quarter One Week Seven Update

Hello Parents! Here is an overview of our week.

Language Arts

Composition/Grammar: This week we will focus on composition. Ask your student what a porringer is. 

Spalding: We will continue to practice cursive before moving on to writing in our Spalding notebooks. 

Literature: The students will be assigned chapters to read at home. If you can spare the time read aloud to your child and have them read to you. In class we are working on vocabulary and comprehension.


Singapore: We will quiz on mental math on Wednesday. A few review problems were sent home tonight. Have your students support themselves by writing a number bond or breaking the numbers apart into the tens and the ones before performing the operation. This is a mental math section but writing the number bond out will help them move towards working problems mentally.


Science: We will continue our study of astronomy. We will be studying stars this week. Ask your student which star we live closest to. 

Poetry: This week we have started There Once Was a Puffin found on page 26 of your Harp and Laurel Wreath. We will practice every morning.
