Quarter Four Week of April 4th

Hello parents and families,
Here is an overview of our week.

Language Arts

Spalding: We will continue working through our words. Remember that your student should be studying the phonograms consistently. Staying sharp with the phonograms is key to learning how to spell and decode.  If your student could use support in Spalding, please send them in Thursday mornings for tutoring. Tutoring will be held in my classroom from 7:10-7:45.

Literature: Our class has been enjoying The Trumpet of the Swan. Last week we held a seminar on the question "Do people have to deserve your kindness?" This question arose when Louis the swan saved the life a boy who did not care for him.

Singapore: We have been working on fractions. Please send your scholar into math tutoring on Wednesday mornings from 7:10-74:45 for extra support.

History: This history unit is focused on the Early Spanish and French Explorers. Ask your student why they where searching for the Seven Cities of Cibola.

Science: In science we are working on classification of animals. We have worked through invertebrates and vertebrates. In the next few weeks we will be looking at mammals, amphibians...etc. Ask your student what the difference between a vertebrate and invertebrate is.

As always please email me with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,
Miss Elfelt
